Territorial Quest — 2025 Graduate Symposium of Art History and Visual Culture: Call for Papers

In an effort to establish a national academic platform for scholarly exchange in art history and visual culture, integrate educational resources across institutions, and foster collaboration and dialogue among graduate students, four institutions—the Graduate Institute of Art Studies at the National Central University, the Graduate Institute of Art History at the National Taiwan Normal University, the Department of Fine Arts (Art History and Visual Culture Division) at the Taipei National University of the Arts, and the Institute of Visual Studies at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University—have joined forces to co-organize this annual event, taking turns as hosts. It has become a major academic highlight in the field of art history in Taiwan.

The symposium welcomes topics covering art history, art theory, and visual culture. We sincerely invite master's and doctoral students nationwide to submit their research and participate, expanding academic perspectives and fostering meaningful dialogue.

This year’s theme, “Territorial Quest,” encourages participants to explore, challenge, and transcend existing boundaries within their fields through critical reflection and academic writing, ultimately carving out a space where their ideas can flourish freely. Submissions in English are encouraged as well, in the hope of promoting deeper intercultural exchange through diverse linguistic approaches to art studies.
